From the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception – Burlington VT
Casavant Frères no. 3361 – 1977 (Gerhard Brunzema - tonal director)
History
This instrument was built in 1977 for the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington VT, as a one manual organ with pedal. The Brustwerk division was added later.
In 2018 the organ became available for sale due to the closing of the Co-Cathedral, and was acquired in 2020 by Trinity Canadian Reformed Church in Caledonia, ON, Canada.
Restoration and expansion
The organ is in good condition and was carefully disassembled and packed, to undergo cleaning and minor repairs in the shop. A new ample wind supply with two new wedge bellows will be built behind the instrument, and framing/walk boards to make tuning possible without having to set up staging.
The voicing of the organ is very good, so we have decided to change little. The metal Subbass 16' in the Pedal will be too soft for the new church. A big scaled wood Subbass 16' will be added behind the organ on a new chest with new tracker action. The metal Subbass will be rescaled into a manual Bourdon 16' for the Great.
A new Krummhorn 8' will be added to the Brustwerk on a new toeboard.
